York Cocoa House

York Cocoa House is one of those rare businesses that’s clearly been built with love, passion and generosity.

Steeped in nostalgia, this magical little place will delight your taste buds and have you oo-ing and aa-ing from the moment you bite into one of their delicious hand-made creations. Try the orange marmalade truffles.

Step into Chocolate Nostalgia

You almost expect to see Juliet Binoche standing behind the counter at York Cocoa House straight out of a scene from the film Chocolat. We can’t guarantee she will be in but owner Sophie and her friendly team will invite you to taste their delicious hand-made chocolates. Try unusual flavours such as stilton and biscuit or their exquisite rose-flavoured chocolates. With its old fashioned till, wooden beams, apothecary jars filled to the brim with chocolates of every kind and chocolate memorabilia displayed on the walls, this place is a shrine to all things chocolatey.

Warm Up in The Chocolate Café

On a cold winter’s day, go inside for one of their comforting hot chocolate drinks. If you need an extra kick of sugar, try their luxury hot chocolate which comes topped with marshmallows and fresh cream. Order a slice of cake on the side and you may just need to have a lie-down afterwards. There are savoury dishes on the menu too such as York Chocolate Stout & Wensleydale Rarebit.
