History of Gin Walking Tour, The City, London

Delve into the dark side of London’s gin history and enter a world of bedlam and madness on this unique walking tour.

History of Gin Tour

Learn about the dark side of gin on this walking tour.

London’s latest gin craze shows no sign of abating offering visitors to the capital a multitude of ways to enjoy and learn about this popular tipple. The Ginsanity tour is one of the most unusual and fun. Run by the Indytute, this evening walking tour will take you on a journey through gin’s dark history and a period of madness during the 18th century when there were over 1000 stills in the City of London alone. Infact, so much gin was being consumed that it led to an increase in insanity giving London the highest percentage of ‘mad’ people of any European city. Along the way, you’ll taste two delicious gins and learn the origins of such phrases as ‘going round the bend’ and ‘mad as a hatter’. Ideal for both individuals and groups.
