The Reception Desk at The Crazy Bear Hotel near Oxford
If you like the muted tones of the Farrow & Ball paint chart, The Crazy Bear hotel near Oxford may not be your cup of tea for a relaxing weekend.
If, however, you yearn to bring out your inner diva, go for a taste of theatricality and musicality in this sleepy Oxfordshire village of Stadhampton.
Experience Eccentricity in the Oxfordshire Countryside
Behind the facade of a sixteenth century public house near Oxford, you’ll discover the Crazy Bear Hotel’s distinctive style. In the cosy bar at the heart of the property, you’ll still find low ceilings and traditional wooden beams but in true Crazy Bear tradition, it’s combined with eccentric extras. Step up into the English restaurant to a diva’s boudoir boldly decorated with pink leather chairs, a leopard print carpet and a ceiling lined with wine bottles. Step down into the more intimate Thai restaurant where the food is served on low round tables, and it’s more reminiscent of being in an ornate restaurant in Marrakech.
Have a Colour-Fix
Each of the sixteen bedrooms has its own unique stamp and dramatic statements abound. Think padded walls, deep sunken baths, chandeliers, ornate mirrors and zebra print carpets. The Crazy Bear is undoubtedly a hotel that likes to make a statement. Avid followers of The White Company’s calming tones and classic furniture might like to make this hotel their guilty little secret and the place to which they escape for a splash of colour.

All quite a surprise in this sleepy Oxfordshire village.
Visit the Crazy Bear Farm Shop
Venture a little further out of the hotel and you’ll see the Welsh Badger Face sheep and Gloucester Old Spot pigs grazing on their adjoining farm. Visit the excellent Crazy Bear Farm Shop just down the lane for local Oxfordshire produce and the Outdoor Pursuits centre next door.
